How to break a hard disk into two sections
How to split a hard disk into two sections in Windows XP
Five minutes will be a primary preparation for installing the system and then the system will detect all your hard drives, if there are several of them. The new hard drive will appear as an “unformatted partition”. And you will be offered to create a new partition that will be used to install Windows XP. Specify its volume, type of file system and install "Windows".
At the end of the installation of Windows XP. You can go to My Computer. You will see that now you have only drive C, and the rest of the place just disappeared. Now click "Start". Then right-click on "My Computer", a menu will open, where click with the left mouse button on "Management".
You will see a window like the one below. Only you will have drive C and a black unpartitioned area.
On this black area, right-click and select the option "create partition".
There will be everything in Russian, so we will not focus on it.I will only note that basically you will press the “Next” button, since the optimal settings will already be set for you automatically. If you want to divide the hard disk into two partitions, then use the second partition to take the entire unallocated area.
And if you need three or more partitions, then specify the volume of the second partition, and then repeat your steps from step 3 to create disk E. At the end, the wizard will offer to format the created partition. I recommend doing quick formatting. And after a couple of minutes you will have a disk D, which can be accessed through "My Computer".
