Roscommandzor indented American companies
Roskomnadzor has ensured that American giants such as Google, Twitter, and Facebook comply with Russian laws. Long negotiations of the supervisory authority with corporations were crowned with success. Using the example of American social networks and Google, Roskomnadzor demonstrated to Russians its main purpose - to protect the personal data of Russian Internet users.
It is worth recalling that in August 2015, the Law on Personal Data entered into force, which obliges Internet companies to store all information transmitted and received by users in Russia. For violation of this law, a fine of up to 500 thousand rubles is expected; in the event of a repeated violation, the resource faces a blockage. So, for non-compliance with the law, the Russian Internet has left the social network LinkedIn.
As a result, Facebook undertook to create a representative office in the territory of the Russian Federation, and Twitter moved servers with personal data of Russians to our country.
For American companies, it makes no sense to lose the Russian audience, trying to hide behind some political goals or ideas. The multimillion audience of Russian users is, first of all, business and money, because Facebook and Twitter work for the sake of advertising.
As for Runet, Roskomnadzor made it clear that any companies, whether domestic or foreign, should work within the Russian right field, regardless of their size and influence. Because the priority for the supervisor is the security of Russian users and their personal data.
