In the Russian Empire, the revolvers of the Nagan system were initially produced in Tula of two types - self-cocking, when one after another all seven bullets could be fired and non-self-cocking - soldiers', when after each shot it was necessary to cock the trigger. The advantage of this revolver is that with a small caliber and size it is quite a powerful weapon. This was achieved due to the fact that when the drum is fired it approaches the barrel and the loss of energy is minimized.

On the other hand, for shooting from the shooter, a sufficiently large physical force is required. The main drawback of the “revolver” is the duration of the reloading. The first combat use of these weapons was noted during the campaign of Russian troops in China in 1900.In the Red Army, "revolver" was held for a long time by the commanders and tankers, for whom the TT pistol was inconvenient due to the mobile barrel. In 1941, on the basis of this revolver, in Tula, revolving guns were manufactured, intended for arming partisans. Samples of such guns exist, but not a single instance of their combat use during the Great Patriotic War has yet been found in documents.

Since 1933, mass production of the legendary TT pistol began at the Tula Arms Factory. The high initial speed of the bullet and the use of a sufficiently powerful cartridge allowed the enemy to be located behind a small shelter or parapet of a trench. In the pistol grip shop for 8 rounds. The main disadvantage of the TT was the lack of a fuse. It was possible to put the gun on a safety platoon, but this did not guarantee against an accidental shot in the fall or a strong blow to the frame of the weapon. During the evacuation, the TT production was transferred from Tula to Izhevsk, and the gun itself was produced in the USSR until 1952 with minor changes.

SVT-40

In the last prewar years in the USSR, much attention was paid to the re-equipment of the army with self-loading rifles of the Tokarev system (SVT-38 and SVT-40).Initially, their production was concentrated in Tula. In total, by June 1941, about 1.5 million units had been fired, and the Red Army was the most equipped self-loading rifle army in the world. From July 1942, AVT-40 began to flow into the army, which allowed them to conduct a continuous fire in close combat. The fuse served as a translator and fire. However, 10 rounds of ammunition for firing turned out to be not enough, shooting accuracy due to the lack of bipods is low, and barrel wear is instantaneous. The experience of military operations showed that SVT-40 and AVT-40 is a very difficult weapon for recruits who, after an accelerated course of training, threw themselves into battle. At the slightest malfunction, the Tokarev rifle was abandoned, replacing the usual three-way line that worked in all conditions. Despite the fact that, in general, the Tokarev rifle did not take root in the army, it became the favorite weapon of well-trained units — marines, motorized riflemen, and cadet units.

In April 1941, it was decided to change the production of a pistol TT pistol Vojvodina. In terms of tactical and technical characteristics, the Vojvodina pistol was significantly superior to the TT.Unlike its predecessor, the Vojvodina pistol had a fuse and the magazine was not for 8, but for 18 rounds, and the accuracy of fire increased significantly. However, by June 41st only one industrial batch of these weapons (about 500 units) was manufactured and in the context of large-scale hostilities it was decided not to transfer the industry to the production of a Vojvodina pistol, but to return to a well-established production of TT.

"Trilinek"

In 1891, a three-line rifle of the S.I. Mosin system or a “three-line” system was adopted by the Russian army. In the Russian army there were three types of “three-way lines” - infantry, dragoon and Cossack. They differed in length and the Cossack rifle did not have a bayonet. The first combat use of the “trilinea” was the Andijan battle in 1895, when the Russian infantry practically wiped out the magazine rifles attacking the cavalry of the enemy.

In the Red Army, only the dragoon model was left in service, and in 1930 the rifle itself underwent a minor modernization. Due to the appearance of the headset, the mount of the bayonet was changed, and the sight was not in steps, but in meters. "Trekhlineyka" was the most massive Soviet small arms of World War II.In total, from May 1941 to the end of 1944, more than 11 million rifles and carbines were created based on the Mosin rifle.

In 1941, when the enemy was approaching Tula, due to the lack of automatic weapons, the city began to produce a Korovin system submachine gun, which armed the soldiers of the Tula Regiment. The design of the submachine gun was distinguished by its simplicity - all the details, with the exception of the barrel and bolt, were made by stamping. The weapon had a low rate of fire (about 470 rounds per minute), which distinguished this sample from most submachine guns. Magazine capacity - 30 rounds. In total, several hundred units were produced, which were limitedly used in the defense of Tula. Until our time, several Korovin submachine guns have been preserved, which are stored in museum collections.
